Welcome FSU: A Warm Welcome to Our Campus
Welcome FSU is Florida State University’s signature welcome event that happens at the beginning of each semester and takes place over several days. In the past, Welcome FSU has consisted of activities on campus, themed events, and opportunities to learn more about involvement and areas of engagement. No matter the circumstances this semester, Welcome FSU is taking place and ensuring that all students are able to celebrate being a ‘Nole!
The Fall 2020 Welcome FSU programming will take place on August 12-28. Students and families visiting campus will have the opportunity to participate in events such as the Welcome Self-Guided Bike Tour around Tallahassee hosted by Sustainable Campus, Campus Recreation, and University Housing. As students move into the Residence Halls on campus, staff will be there to greet FSU families, New ‘Noles, and returning ‘Noles at the Residence Hall Welcome.
There are many other events taking place remotely, such as the Center for Global Engagement’s Virtual International Coffee Hour, the Career Center’s Connect with your Career Champion, “Quaraoke” with University Housing, and First Day Photos and Ask a 'Nole with New Student & Family Programs. To see all the events and programming being offered, check out Welcome FSU’s full calendar.
Not only is Welcome FSU invested in creating an inviting community on campus, it is also eager to introduce students to their new hometown, Tallahassee. On the Welcome FSU website, you and your student can find Things to do in Tallahassee, ranging from arts and culture, outdoor and recreation, and the history and heritage of Tallahassee. As you explore Tallahassee, FSU does encourage social distancing and practicing the appropriate protocols in order to remain healthy and safe.
And, in true FSU spirit, students are able to find the lyrics to the famous FSU Fight Song and the Hymn to the Garnet & the Gold. Make sure your student brushes up on the lyrics to these two songs as they never know when they have to sing them!
