Campus Recreation Spotlight
FSU Campus Recreation is a unique resource on campus that offers services to students, faculty, and the FSU community, and even the Tallahassee Community. From fitness to outdoor activities to intramural sports, FSU Campus Recreation has so much to take advantage of. They also are a great source of employment on campus for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as for full-time employees.
FSU Campus Recreation currently has two fitness facilities on campus, the Leach Center and the Fitness and Movement Clinic, both of which offer a wide range of fitness options free to current FSU students. At the Leach Center, you can find strength and cardio equipment, sports courts and an indoor track, a pool and spa, and even a spacious atrium area to hang out or study in. The Leach also provides space for group fitness and personal training sessions. The Fitness and Movement Clinic is a more laid back facility that includes space for strength and cardio workouts and a private room for small group fitness sessions. Check out their page to find the hours of operation for each facility.
As for sports, FSU Campus Recreation has something for everyone. Between intramural sports, sports clubs, and various sports facilities, you’re guaranteed to find something that peaks your interest. Intramural sports offers over 40 team sports leagues, tournaments, and special events throughout the year, including basketball, ultimate frisbee, softball, dodgeball, spikeball, disc golf, and so much more. FSU Campus Recreation is also home to 36 sport and recreation-focused student organizations, ranging from flag football and bowling all the way to quidditch and sailing! These clubs can be competitive or instructional. In addition to organized sports, FSU Campus Recreation offers multiple facilities that are open-access to students and faculty, including the Main Campus Fields, Westside Courts, and Speicher Tennis Center. Check out the sports page for more information.
Perhaps one of the most unique facilities that FSU Campus Recreation has to offer is the Rez Lakefront Park & Retreat Center. This 73-acre facility is located on Lake Bradford in Tallahassee and is open to FSU students and faculty as well as the general public. At the Rez, you can enjoy canoeing, kayaking, picnicking, swimming, sand volleyball, disc golf, and other activities. The FSU Challenge Course is also located at the Rez and includes a high ropes course, a low ropes course, and even a 40 foot climbing wall. This facility is great for team building experiences or just a relaxing day on the lake with friends. Check out their page to see what else the Rez has to offer.
