Office Spotlight: Oglesby Union

The Oglesby Union has been a staple at Florida State University in some form or another since the 1940s. The FSU Student Union is an engaging and diverse community that fosters individual and collective learning through outstanding services and opportunities for involvement. The Union values community, opportunity, discovery and excellence to ensure a worthwhile experience for the students on campus.

The Oglesby Union is currently under construction, but this hasn’t stopped its programs and activities from cultivating the college experience. The Oglesby Union is home to the Art Center, Club Downunder, Crenshaw Lanes, the Flying High Circus, Campus Event Services, Student Organizations and Involvement, Askew Student Life Center, the Union Board, and it also contains Administration and Operations/Maintenance departments. Due to the reconstruction of the main Student Center, many of the programs and departments that are located directly within the Oglesby Union buildings have temporarily relocated to the Askew Student Life Center and the Student Services Building on campus. 

Outside of the recreational programs and events that the Oglesby Union offers, it also provides a number of services to the students, faculty and staff, and the community. These services include Campus Event Services, Lost and Found, Event Planning, Market Wednesday, Online Space Request System, Organizations and Involvement, and Vendor Thursdays. These are great ways for individual students as well as registered student organizations to get involved on campus and to utilize opportunities that Florida State has to offer.

The Oglesby Union is home to many campus-wide events that students, faculty and staff, and community members can find each semester and also year-round. In the fall, the Union is responsible for programmed events such as Family Weekend, Homecoming festivities, Haunted Harvest and more. In the spring, the Union hosts major events such as the Circus Home Show Series, Leadership Awards Night, Spring Fling and more. Year-round events are also put on by the Oglesby Union, most notably including Welcome FSU, Market Wednesday, and the Involvement Fair.
