Finding What Moves You with Campus Recreation
Campus Rec is home to Intramural Sports, which is a more recreational sports option on FSU’s campus if your student is not exactly the college-league type. There are over 80 programs offered through Intramural Sports, and this fall they offered basketball, softball, lacrosse, flag football, tennis, soccer, and more. The programs offered come in a variety of durations, so if your student is looking for one night of activity and competition or an entire season of the sport, Campus Rec can help set your student up on the right path.
Outdoor Pursuits, another branch beneath Campus Recreation, is an outdoor adventure program that takes students out on single or multi-day trips across the southeast. These trips typically require a registration and trip fee, but the trips hosted are some your student won’t want to miss. Some upcoming Outdoor Pursuits events are a Providence Canyon Hike in southeast Georgia, Full Moon Paddle, Georgia Stargazing and Camp, and ending the fall season is the Appalachian Trail Backpacking and Camp.
Loved by many students, the Reservation- or The Rez- is an enjoyable getaway from campus that is just four miles outside of FSU’s campus. The Rez is right on Lake Bradford and is a 73-acre facility available to the FSU and Tallahassee community. The Rez is a great place to go and relieve worries and stressors by partaking in activities like canoeing, sailing, swimming, and more. Rentals and most activities are free for FSU students with a valid Student ID. Throughout the year, The Rez also hosts Rez Days, which is an event free for all FSU students with their Student ID. At Rez Days students can expect free food, free lawn games, free climbing walls and ropes courses, and free field and waterfront activities. Rez Days encourages students to get out and enjoy the sun with their friends, and is hosted a few times throughout the school year. The next one is occuring on October 27 11 am-4 pm.
If your student is looking to add some fitness to their current lifestyle, Campus Rec also hosts a variety of personal training, small group training, group fitness and aquatics at the Leach Center and Fitness and Movement Clinic. Students can customize their experience with Campus Rec to what they need and participate in their exercises and fitness classes or groups whenever is convenient.
Consider these amenities a fun way to stay active and get the most out of what Campus Recreation has to offer your student! For more information about Campus Rec, visit their website here.
