Financial assistance for students with disabilities may be obtained through several scholarships, a few of which are listed below. If you have any questions regarding any scholarship listed here, please contact the OAS at (850) 644-2428 or email oas-scholarships@fsu.edu.
The Office of Financial Aid is a helpful resource for identifying financial assistance options. They are located in Suite 4400A University Center and can be contacted by phone (850-644-0539) or email (financialaid@fsu.edu). Scholarship opportunities are also listed at FS4U.
External organizations also offer financial assistance for college students with disabilities. For example, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Division of Blind Services offer help assistance on financial need. Students are responsible for researching and contacting any external organizations about scholarships, grants, or other financial assistance.
Applicants must:
- have at least a 2.0 GPA.
- be a Florida Resident.
- pursuing their first bachelor's degree.
- have financial need, as demonstrated by a complete FAFSA.
- submit an application.
First-time applicants must:
- submit an official transcript.
- provide documentation of disability (Not required for currently registered OAS students).
- provide a personal statement.
- Maximum one page, double-space discussing your achievements, activities, career goals, and the effects of your disability(ies).
- provide two reference letters addressing your academic success and potential.

The DEADLINE for application materials is May 1.
Applicants must complete a FAFSA Application to be considered.
The Rieves Family Endowment provides $1,000 scholarshipsto deserving full-time students with learning disabilities who are registered with the Office of Accessibility Services. Preference is given to out-of-state students and prior recipients of this scholarship.

The Dr. Toni Jo Mason Endowment for Excellence is a $3,000 scholarship to a College of Education student with at least a 2.5 GPA who demonstrates financial need, exhibits academic achievement, and embodies the “stick-to-it-ness” that drove Dr. Toni Jo Mason to succeed. Any student may apply to be considered for the award; however, it is the preference of the donor that the recipient has a physical, auditory, or visual disability. OAS does not administer the Toni Jo Mason scholarship. Inquires about this scholarship must be made to the College of Education directly.
