Financial assistance for students with disabilities may be obtained through several scholarships, a few of which are listed below. If you have any questions regarding any scholarship listed here, please contact the OAS at (850) 644-9566 or email oas-scholarships@fsu.edu.
There are other places on campus to find assistance, such as the STAR Center located in the University Financial Aid office, which can be found in UCA 4400 A. Outside organizations also offer financial assistance for college students with disabilities. For example, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Division of Blind Services offer help based on financial need. It is the responsibility of the student to research and contact any outside organizations offering scholarships, grants, or other financial assistance.
Johnson Scholarship
Undergraduate students must have at least a 2.0 GPA, have completed the FAFSA form, submitted an application, send an official transcript (new students only), and provide documentation of their disability. The student must also complete a personal statement (no more than one double-spaced page) pertaining to your achievements, activities, career goals, and the effects of your disability(ies) along with two letters of reference addressing your academic success and potential. The DEADLINE for application materials is due no later than May 1, 2024

The Rieves Family Endowment Scholarship
The Rieves Family Endowment provides $1,000 scholarships to deserving students challenged with learning disabilities who utilize the services of the Office of Accessibility Services. Recipients will be full-time students with a learning disability registered through the Office of Accessibility Services. Preference is given to out-of-state students and prior recipients of this scholarship. All questions can be directed to oas-scholarships@fsu.edu.

The Toni Jo Mason Scholarship
The Toni Jo Mason Scholarship is a $3,000 scholarship to a College of Education student with at least a 2.5 GPA who demonstrates financial need, exhibits academic achievement, and embodies the “stick-to-it-ness” that drove Dr. Toni Jo Mason to succeed. Any student may apply to be considered for the award; however, it is the preference of the donor that the recipient has a physical, auditory, or visual disability. Note: Inquires about the Toni Jo Mason Scholarship must be made to the College of Education directly. The OAS does not administrate the Toni Jo Mason scholarship and cannot answer such inquiries.
