Food Allergies and Accommodations

The OAS works in close partnership with Seminole Dining to ensure that students’ specific dietary needs are known and accommodated.

We encourage you to visit seminoledining.com to view menus ahead of time. This is one of the best tools for students with special diets or allergies because it provides insight into what is being served at each location and can help with planning and decision-making. In addition, icons around the dining center can help make eating healthy an easy choice. More information: https://seminoledining.campusdish.com/HealthAndWellness

Food Allergies and Accommodations

The OAS works in close partnership with Seminole Dining to ensure that students’ specific dietary needs are known and accommodated.  Please be sure to read all information provided by the Seminole Dining team included on this page, paying special attention to the Seminole Dining forms that all students with dietary needs will be asked to complete and submit to the OAS.  Once students complete the intake meeting at the OAS we will refer the student for a one-on-one meeting with the Seminole Dining dietitian to discuss their specific food needs.

The Florida State University campus is equipped and dedicated to accommodating customers who have food allergies, Celiac disease, or other dietary needs. Our Seminole Dining team communicates daily with customers to provide safe, healthy, and delicious options.

Worry-Free Zone – Suwannee Room

logo for Worry-free ZoneMy Zone is our campus “pantry” where food items needed by students with celiac disease or food allergies can be housed with precautions against cross-contact.  This special area is free of gluten-containing ingredients, as well as tree nuts and peanuts. My Zone gives students the ability to be involved in their own allergen-safe meal preparation.

True Balance - Suwannee Room

The True Balance station is designed to assist students with food allergies to make safe and healthy choices while dining on campus.
All of the foods in this station are made without the top 8 most common food allergens, including wheat/gluten, soy, eggs, milk, fish, shellfish, peanuts, and tree nuts. Meals served at the True Balance station are prepared in an allergen-free area of the kitchen, including secluded storage areas to eliminate the chance of cross-contact.

Our goal is to provide students with an opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal regardless of their food allergies. You can find our True Balance station in Suwannee Room.

Applying for Dietary Accommodations

Students with special dietary needs are expected to act as their own advocates to communicate their dietary restrictions and needs to Seminole Dining. Once you have had your intake appointment with the OAS you will be informed on how to set up a meeting with the Seminole Dining Dietitian to go over your specific needs/requests.

Individualized Dining Tour
Tours are led by the Seminole Dining registered dietitian. The dietitian will go through each station at Suwannee Room, pointing out foods to avoid and make a recommendation on what to eat to ensure a variety of options. At the tour, the student will be introduced to the chefs and learn how to communicate with Seminole Dining staff or the student to get the information needed to make an informed decision on the menu options. Contact us to set-up a tour by sending an email to Chiung Lien at lien-chiung@aramark.com or calling 850-644-3663.
